Transportation & Development Institute

About T&DI

The Transportation & Development Institute, or T&DI, was formerly known as the Transportation Technical Group, within the East Central Branch.  The local T&DI was established in 2008 as a chapter of the national Institute, to further advance the agenda of the national umbrella organization. The primary function is to provide support and educational opportunities for professionals in the diverse field of transportation engineering and urban development/planning. T&DI hosts monthly luncheons, netwoking opportunities, and community service events. An annual highlight is the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Luncheon held each October, where representatives of statewide and local agencies are invited to present the major projects in their annual CIP.

The history of the Transportation Technical Group, as a subsidiary of the East Central Branch of ASCE, is much longer than the T&DI.  It was established as early as 1970, as the largest of the four specialty technical groups, and has had a very active committee from the start.

T&DI welcomes all members who wish to participate. If you would like information on joining the East Central Branch T&DI and information on upcoming events please subscribe to the T&DI email list.

Annual CIP Luncheon

Every winter, T&DI hosts the highly anticipated CIP luncheon, with representation from five central Florida State, municipal, and Private clients (FDOT District 1, FDOT District 5, FDOT FTE, Central Florida Expressway Authority, and Orange County). This networking lunch annually updates over 200 members on each agency’s transportation capital improvement plan for the upcoming fiscal year and is also the platform for our T&DI student scholarships to be awarded.
